Recipe of the week: Homemade Potato Chips

Here’s what you will need:

* a potato

* some vegetable oil

* a baking sheet

* some salt

Here’s what you  do:

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.

Wash and peel your potato.

Now very carefully cut the potato into very thin slices.

Now take a paper towel and rub some oil on your cookie sheet.

Place the slices on the cookie sheet and sprinkle them with salt.

Put them into the oven for 30 minutes.

When they look golden brown and crispy, flip them over and sprinkle salt on the other side.

Now put them back in the oven for another 20 minutes.

When they’re done, remove them from the cookie sheet right away, let cool and eat!

Recipe of the week: Pizza pockets

Ingredients:
* 1 6½” whole-wheat pita (cut in half to make 2 pockets)
* ¼ c. of pizza sauce
* ½ c. shredded mozzarella cheese
* small amount of meat filling (Canadian bacon, pepperoni, sausage, etc.)

Directions:
1. Place each pita half (2 pockets) on a microwave-safe plate.
2. Spoon 2 tbsp. pizza sauce into each half and spread around with spoon.
3. Add meat filling.
4. Measure ¼ cup of cheese and sprinkle into 1 pocket. Repeat for other pocket.
5. Lay pocket flat on plate and place in microwave for about 30 seconds. Check to see if cheese is melted. If not, try another 15 seconds and recheck. You don’t want it to be too hot or it can burn your tongue.
6. Remove and enjoy!

Recipe of the week: Super-Duper Shakin’ Snack Mix

WHAT’S IN IT?
1 cup mini pretzels
1 cup white cheddar cheese or cheese flavored popcorn
1/2 cup puffed wheat or other mini wheat cereal
1/4 cup cashew halves and pieces or peanuts, lightly salted
1/4 cup raisins

STUFF YOU NEED
Large-size bowl
Dry measuring cups
3 sealable, sandwich-size plastic bags

HOW TO PUT IT TOGETHER
1. Into a large-size bowl, dump each ingredient from a dry measuring cup.
2. Toss the ingredients together by shimmyin’ and shakin’ the bowl!
3. Throw the snack mix into 3 sealable, sandwich-size plastic bags.
4. Grab it as a speedy snack on the go!

Recipe of the week: Pretzel animals

Pretzel animals

In a big bowl mix together 1 package yeast, 1.5 cups warm water, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 tablespoon salt. Stir in 4 cups white flour and 2 cups of whole wheat flour; knead on a counter dusted with flour until the dough is smooth. Shape into animal shapes, brush with a beaten egg and sprinkle with a little salt. Bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.

What You Need:

* One cup of water
* Two tablespoons liquid detergent
* One Tablespoons glycerin (available at drug stores)
* 1/2 tablespoon sugar

* Mix together and use.
